Alcohol consumption occurs frequently in social situations. For many, it can ease stress and increase pleasure. Recognizing why people drink alongside their peers and the consequences of getting carried away could help one understand more about drinking.
A phenomenological research method was utilized to describe the lived experience of adults that were alcohol drinkers during adolescence. Purposive sampling was used to determine the participants. An interview guide with open-ended questions were used to help participants convey the list without limitations. The researchers clarified and explained to the participants the objective of the study, while taking in the ethical considerations into action. The researchers sorted and clustered common answers and responses into encountered experiences which were interpreted and analyzed.
From findings, it shows that peer pressure exert a role in alcohol drinking, adolescences who engaged in alcohol consumption have positive and negative effects that has impacted their lives in various ways like fun, happiness, antisocial behavior and unprotected sexual intercourse.
It is recommended that the availabilty of alcohol is reduced and set at a legalize age group, the benefit from wareness of the possible risks of adverse effect of alcohol consumption like STDs and unwanted pregnancy. Jingles and educational programs is advice to be held for their benefits.
