The study utilized a phenomenological approach and an in-depth semi-structured interview guide was used to collate necessary information from the participants about their life experiences. The researchers uncovered both positive and negative experiences. One of the positives is that mothers have increased involvement with their children. Mothers were also able to experience increased resilience and the talents and skills that were uncovered brought improved happiness and personal growth. On the other hand, mothers experienced life-long amxiety because their children are susceptible to safety-related problems. Furthermore, mother experience a sense of helplessness because of their children's uncertain situation, opportunities, and establishment of their own family in later life. Moreover, they experience isolation from the public due to the rejection and stigmatization of their children by friends and peers. Finally, they experience a sense of social exclusion because of the lack of facilities available for their children as well as impairment of roles due to lack of resources needed for their child's rehabilitation, education, and leisure.
